A Community Sharing Our Rich Heritage
The opportunity to host an international student is not usually extended to the community, but there is a shortage of hosts this year and some students may be turned away unless a few new hosts are found. Dr. Brent Morrow is asking community members to consider hosting. I have a few colleagues at ETSU who have hosted students and have had very positive experiences. Hosting responsibilities include: a few nights in your home prior to the dorms opening, helping your student move in, providing info about the area, and checking in with them during the first few months to see how they are doing. But, in some cases, hosts become like "parents" to these students, who often cannot travel home for the holidays and do not have a car. The location of our neighborhood would be perfect for a relationship like this so I hope you all will consider it! The information and application for non-ETSU volunteers is attached.
