Several Tree Streets residents have been attending the Board of Dwelling Standards Review meetings each month starting with the September,2010 meeting. Two properties in our neighborhood have gone through the long process required to deal with derelict/vacant properties. The end results of this are: The repairs to the outside of 416 W.Maple have been completed and is no longer before the board. The house at 421 W.Maple was demolished by the city on Friday, June 24th. I am very grateful to former City Commisioner Marcy Walker for her support of this neighborhood's work to deal with these properties. I appreciate the members of the BDS who volunteer their time for the benefit of all property owners in Johnson City. We now start the process with the property at 402 W.Maple which was accepted by the BDS at their last meeting. I appreciate the prompt response by the City when this property was brought to their attention. The BDS meetings are the 4th Thursday of each month. The meetings start at 7pm and are held in the Municipal and Safety Building, 601 E.Main Street. Please consider attending these meetings. It makes a difference to the City staff and to the BDS members that we care enough to attend the meetings.

I was a long and involved process but a good outcome.   Hopefully the property owner of 416 W. Maple will  continue to work on the house.
